The future is brightening for the Indus River Dolphin. In just two decades, the critically endangered population has doubled (although it still stands at less than 2,000), and is celebrated in these abstract design Happy Socks Blind Indus River Dolphin Socks. These 86% organic cotton socks are co-created by Happy Socks with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). They are great quality, with smooth toe seams and are crew length, in a fine gauge knit.
The functionally blind dolphins, which rely on echolocation to survive, can now only be found confined, and in tiny isolated populations, to a 750-mile stretch in the lower parts of the Indus River in Pakistan and in River Beas, a tributary of the Indus River in Punjab, India. Multiply threatened by damaged habitat, inability to migrate, pollution, fishnets and poaching, now with the joint work of WWF and the Sindh Wildlife Department there is cause for hope.
